Latest Deck Project

This project was quite interesting, and it came with some unique challenges. The existing deck shown in the picture below was a flat asphalt roof with railings. The customer wanted a nice deck built over the flat roof with new railings.

I started out by leaving the old railings where they were, and building the floor joists and decking around them.

The existing posts were in great condition, so rather than disturb the roof by removing them, I decided to leave them in place. In the picture below, you can see the decking and the post covers installed. The customer chose XLM decking by Timber-tech in a Desert Bronze color. It is a PVC decking that looks very much like an exotic Brazillian wood. With the black Radiance Rail (also by Timber-Tech), it turned out to be an excellent combination.

And here is the finished product! Later on, we added lighted post caps and as soon as I can, I will post pictures of that as well.
